1. Introduction

We are the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this Policy. This Policy covers both the mobile application and the marketing website, and it should be read together with our Terms of Service.

App and developer: BikeCityHub (Android package com.bikehub.furkan; iOS app “BikeCityHub”) is published by Özkan Güngör (the “Developer”), based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this Policy, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to the Developer. Contact: info@bikecityhub.com.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account information: email address, nickname, chosen authentication method (email/password, Google, or Apple), and optional profile photo.
  • Location information: real-time GPS location when you enable the Live Map or ride tracking, and event meeting-point addresses you provide or view.
  • Ride and activity data: routes, distance, speed, duration, ride history, badges, XP, and challenge progress.
  • Step and walking data: daily step counts read from your device’s step sensors (Android “Physical activity” permission; iOS “Motion & Fitness”), the walking speed, distance, and calorie estimates calculated from them, your daily step goal and step length, and the body weight you enter for calorie estimates.
  • Communication data: messages you send in private chats, community chat, and event chats, and the content of reports you submit.
  • Device and usage data: device model, operating system, app version, language setting, crash logs, and general usage analytics.
  • Push notification tokens, used to deliver notifications to your device.
  • Payment-related data: subscription status and transaction identifiers provided by the app store; we do not receive or store your full card details, which are handled entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to: provide and operate core features (events, chat, ride tracking, live map); personalize event recommendations; enable safety and moderation tools (blocking, muting, reporting); send you notifications you have opted into; maintain and improve the Service through aggregated analytics; detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues; and comply with legal obligations.

We also use step and walking data to show your daily progress, estimate distance and calories, update the home-screen widgets, and notify you when you reach your daily step goal. We do not use this data for advertising.

4. Location Data — Special Notice

Location data is the most sensitive information we process. Your live location is only shared with other users when you actively enable location-sharing features such as the Live Map or “share during ride.” You can disable location sharing at any time in your profile settings, including through “Ghost Mode.” Ride routes you record are stored so you can view your own ride history; you may delete individual rides or your entire ride history at any time. We are not responsible for decisions you make about when, where, or with whom to share your location.

5. Step and Activity Data — Special Notice

Step and walking data is read from your device’s built-in motion sensors only after you grant the “Physical activity” permission (Android) or “Motion & Fitness” access (iOS). We read step counts only — not other health or fitness data — and we do not use Health Connect or Apple Health. Daily step totals, the step goal and step length you choose, and the distance and calorie estimates derived from them are saved to your account so they persist across devices; they can be viewed by authorized staff for support, security, and aggregated statistics. The body weight you may enter for calorie estimates is saved to your account (used only to calculate calories) so it can be restored if you reinstall the app. Step data is not sold, not shared with advertisers or other third parties, and not used for advertising. You can turn automatic step counting off at any time in the app’s Step settings, change your goal and step length, or revoke the permission in your device settings; deleting your account deletes your step records. Distance, speed, and calorie values are estimates and are not medical information.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:

  • infrastructure and service providers who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations: Google Firebase (used only for sign-in authentication and push notifications), Cloudflare (notification relay), and our server hosting provider. Your account, chat, ride, event, and step data are stored on our own servers, not in Firebase;
  • app store providers (Google Play, Apple App Store) for subscription processing;
  • other users, to the extent you choose to make information visible (nickname, live location while sharing, chat messages, event details); and
  • authorities or third parties where required by law, to protect rights and safety, or to enforce our Terms of Service.

7. International Data Transfers

Because our infrastructure providers operate global data centers, your information may be processed in countries other than your country of residence, which may have different data protection laws. Where required, we rely on the safeguards provided by our infrastructure providers to protect your information during such transfers.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account and ride data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Daily step records are kept while your account is active and are deleted together with your account.

9. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encrypted connections and access controls, to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on the laws that apply to you, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing, including withdrawing consent for location sharing. You can exercise most of these rights directly in the app's profile and settings screens (including editing your profile, disabling location sharing, and deleting your account), or by contacting us at the email below. This includes turning off automatic step counting, changing your step goal and step length, and revoking the motion / physical-activity permission in your device settings.

How to delete your account: account deletion is available directly in the mobile app — open the Profile tab and scroll to the bottom to find the “Delete Account” option. bikecityhub.com/delete-account.php

11. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly. Please contact us if you believe a minor has provided us with personal information.

12. Cookies and Website Analytics

Our website uses your browser's local storage only to remember your preferred language; it does not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. Our hosting provider may keep standard server access logs for security and operational purposes.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email before they take effect. The “Effective Date” at the top of this Policy indicates when it was last revised.
